Enjoy Stuff: A TechnoRetro Podcast

’Twas galaxy, far 'way long ago,
Hid Gyo and Gyndine in the wabe:
On Mimban were the Aphor groves,
  And the womp rats outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabba Wook, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the JarJar Binks, and shun
  The frumious Bantha Snacks!”

He took his vornskr sword in hand:
Long time the Manakron foe he sought --
So rested he by the TaunTaun tree,
  And froze awhile on Hoth.

And, though in Ugnaught height he wished,
The Jabba Wook, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling passed the Tulgah witch,
  And rarlgurled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
  The vornskr blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
  He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabba Wook?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
  He chortled in his joy.

’Twas galaxy, far 'way long ago,
Hid Gyo and Gyndine in the wabe:
On Mimban were the Aphor groves,
  And the womp rats outgrabe.

Aftershocks of 1977

Midway’s GORF combines Space Invaders, Galaxian, Galaga, Asteroids, and more in this iconic alien-blasting shooter from 1981.  With synthesized vocoders and the ability to buy extra lives by shoving more quarters in the slot, a new age of video games was launched.

History Lesson

The Titanic takes on passengers and millions of gallons of freezing water this week in 1912.  Tom Hanks turns a successful launch of Apollo 13 into a failed mission and happy landing after venting oxygen in 1970.  Today is Inception Day for LEON in Blade Runner.  Abraham Lincoln refuses immortality, the army of the Twelve Monkeys catches on, and (of course) Billy Madison continues making his way through school.
