You want Action? We've got Action! This year's holiday tournament pits some of the most popular action figures against each other in an effort to take top spot in the toy catalogue circle-fest! The Earbuds voted. Now Jovial Jay and Shua break down the toy battle of the century on Enjoy Stuff!

What we’re Enjoying Jay just got a book he’s been wanting for a while. The Star Trek Genesis Trilogy Anniversary Special is a collection of some great Star Trek past. Check it out from Titan! Shua really enjoyed Wednesday on Netflix, starring Jenna Ortega as the brooding Addams daughter. A fun series that brings the classic feel of the Addams Family to the modern streaming age.
Sci-Fi Saturdays/MCU Location Scout Starship Troopers (1997) was a fun romp through a future where humanity is fighting for their lives against giant bugs that are the scourge of the galaxy! (Would you like to know more?) There are new locations for the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on MCU Location Scout.

What we’re Enjoying Shua was pleasantly surprised by the new sequel to a holiday classic. A Christmas Story Christmas debuted on HBO Max and instead of just being a goofy rehash of the original, it was very touching and emotional. Jay checked out the Brad Pitt summer action movie Bullet Train and he agreed it was a crazy, and speedy, ride.

What we’re Enjoying Jay wrapped up his viewing of the Netflix comic book adaptation of Locke and Key. It was a fun series but kind of fell a little flat during the last season. Shua was enraptured by the latest Marvel release Black Panther - Wakanda Forever. A great character piece that showed how the MCU will move on from Chadwick Boseman and King T’Challa.
Sci-Fi Saturdays/MCU Location Scout Sci-Fi Saturdays continues its look at some classic 90s sci-fi. After revisiting Face-Off, we follow up with the 1997 Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones comedy Men in Black. And then go back to watch the adaptation of a Carl Sagan book, 1997’s Jodie Foster film Contact. And make sure to interact with new Wakanda Forever locations on MCU Location Scout.
Enjoy Giving T Hanks! This week we try to narrow down a large body of quality work from America’s Dad, Tom Hanks. The actor, who started his career out of college, having been unable to even get a role in college plays, rocketed to stardom.
He started on TV with some small parts and partnering up with Peter Scolari on Bosom Buddies. But when Splash gained so much success, producers and directors started using him more in bigger roles. He had a series of successful comedies in the 80’s like Bachelor Party (1984), The Money Pit (1986), Dragnet (1987), and Turner and Hooch (1989).
Big really shot Hanks’s popularity in 1988, and he started dipping his toe in some romance roles like Joe versus the Volcano (1990), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and You’ve Got Mail (1998). And his role as Woody in Toy Story (1995) continues to evolve and become popular and has even inspired a new Disney park area.
But it was his role in the drama Philadelphia (1993) that won him his first Oscar, only to be followed up the following year with Forrest Gump (1994) with another Oscar. Plus other incredible performances in Apollo 13 (1995), Saving Private Ryan (1998), and The Green Mile (1999)
He continues to create well-liked films with humor, drama, and emotion into the 21st century with memorable roles in movies like Cast Away (2000), Saving Mr. Banks (2013), and Elvis (2022)

What we’re Enjoying Jay was listening to this podcast called Enjoy Stuff, where a guy named Shua was talking about the Magic Candle Company and their theme park inspired candle scents. He tried the sampler pack that includes Space Coaster, Haunted, Pirate Life, and Extraterrestrial. They’re a unique and pleasant candle that both guys recommend. Shua checked out a very well done stop motion animation movie on Netflix called Wendell and Wild by Jordan Peele and Henry Selick. A spooky and dark (not to mention fun) movie that features demons, zombies, and redemption. Plus, one of the crew members was friend of the show Hunter Wahl who was one of the talented puppet painters on the crew. Check it out on Netflix.
Sci-Fi Saturdays/MCU Location Scout Sci-Fi Saturdays is back with a look at a fun romp in space with Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Gary Oldman, and Chris Tucker. Written and directed by Luc Besson, it has gained a large following over the years with it’s beautiful design and fun action story. Check it out on RetroZap.com
Enjoy Music! Weird Al Yankovic got his start at an early age when his mom bought him an accordion from a door-to-door salesman. With that and his passion for the Dr. Demento show, his creativity began to thrive with parodies of other songs.
His crazy, unique style began to grow in popularity with repeated playings of his early songs like My Bologna and I Love Rocky Road on Dr. Demento, and soon he had a record deal. That led to several other albums, videos, cameos in movies, and even a movie of his own.
He is only one of five artists that have had a Top 40 single in each of the last four decades. Lin-Manuel Miranda has said he was an influence on writing Hamilton. His crazy, fun work has truly made a unique difference in our culture.
The new biopic called Weird: The Al Yankovic story is out now, starring Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al. A wild (and totally “accurate”) account of Al’s life and rise to fame. Featuring Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna and Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento, it’s the perfect example of Al’s work.

Enjoying Halloween sometimes means some real-life spooky stories. This week we look into some of our local legends and tales that have creeped us out since our youth. Jay and Shua will be hiding under the bed for most of this week’s Enjoy Stuff.

What we’re Enjoying After hearing about Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd reuniting at NYCC, he decided to download the most recent self-narrated book by Fox called, “No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality”. It is really an eye-opening and inspirational story. Jay discovered that his new house may hold some secrets in the form of a deep hole that may or may not be a Hellmouth. If we notice any demons emerging from below, we’ll let you know.
Sci-Fi Saturdays/MCU Location Scout Sci-Fi Saturdays ended its crossover with 31 Days of Horror by looking at the creepy Sci-Fi thriller Event Horizon. It returns to traditional form with Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman in The Fifth Element. Book your multipass now!
Enjoy Life! Spooky tales and legends get passed down from generation to generation. Come along with us and hear about some that have taken place where we live throughout our life.
We start by sharing some of the ones we loved as kids, such as the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Mothman, and Chessie, the Chesapeake Bay monster. These get us excited to go get spooked and learn some history at the same time.
Shua shares some legendary Colorado tales such as the Ghosts of Cheesman park, Riverdale Road, and of course the Shining inspired ghosts of The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park.
He also shares his favorite tale of the supposed cannibal Alferd Packer, who ate the men he was supposed to be leading over a pass in the winter. Something Shua always discourages his tour guides to do.
Jay tells about the chilling tale of St Mary’s College in Ellicott, Maryland and the location of the Blair Witch Project, which has eerie tales of its own.
The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California is the setting of many a ghost tale and mysteries of the widow who lived there. Plus, Jay shares a very creepy story of his youth when he almost became a character in another ominous happening.

What we’re Enjoying Jay recently visited the Luray Caverns in Virginia, the largest caverns in the eastern United States. It’s wide variety of stalactites and stalagmites is a beautiful example of how nature still remains the most amazing features on our planet. Shua has been listening to the classic suite of music from Gustav Holst called The Planets. This music has inspired many composers, including John Williams when he wrote the soundtrack to Star Wars.

What we’re Enjoying Shua finally received his comic book from Jack in the Box called The Return of Mark Hamill. This free souvenir is a total blast. A really funny interpretation of Hamill’s early job and eventual return as a Jack in the Box drive thru employee. He’s also been playing around with the new feature on iOS 16 that automatically selects a person, isolating them from the background. Jay has been indulging in Advil from his big move. But also catching up on the brilliant Star Trek series Lower Decks. A fun, creative, animated take on the Trek universe.

What we’re Enjoying Shua is really digging the vibe of the new Star Wars series on Disney+, Andor. It’s a bit more gritty than we are used to, but Diego Luna is fantastic as Cassian, and the real world settings feel very ‘original trilogy’. In between his busy moving schedule, Jay has been reading some retro Dr. Strange comics from the mid 80s. It’s always fun to revisit the origins of some of the great stuff we are getting today.

Enjoy The Full Moon! As long as humans have been looking up to the sky, we have been fascinated by the moon. And once a month, that mysterious jewel in the sky appears big and bright and full, giving us even more to wonder about.
Lycanthropy is the transformation of a person into a wolf and stories of this curse date all the way back to the Epic of Gilgamesh. Werewolves even show up in Greek mythology in the Legend of Lycaon.
Since these stories have endured, it’s no surprise that they showed up in movies very early. The first movie featuring a lycanthrope was The Werewolf from 1913. Unfortunately, it was lost to fire and can never be seen again. But a few years later, a silent western called Wolf Blood (1925) appeared and can still be viewed.
The 1935 film Wolf Blood starring Henry Hull gave us some of the tropes we still use today, such as the curse being passed on by a bite, transformations occurring because of a full moon, and that the cursed will try to lock themselves up to protect others.
The popularity has never disappeared in cinema. We still remember some legendary and groundbreaking films such as Universal’s The Wolf Man (1941) and An American Werewolf in London (1981) which started a new chapter in special effects. Plus, a few fun ones like Michael J. Fox in Teen Wolf (1985)
Check out some classic (and wonderfully cheesy) films from Full Moon Entertainment. Or some classic music about our lunar neighbor like Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty, Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival, or Moonage Daydream by David Bowie.
But the movies aren’t the only place you can see people howling. Cartoons gave us the Groovy Ghoulies and Fang Face. And even our breakfast is not immune to the moon when you eat Frute Brute cereal.
