Greetings, Programs!

The great Saturday morning tradition of our generation may be over on the airwaves, but we can still pour a bowl of cereal and sit down to watch our favorite cartoons any time we want!  This week, shazbazzar and JediShua watch the Jetsons while enjoying some steaming Kellogg’s Pop Tarts.  Where is the cereal, you ask?  In the cake, of course.

But this is just a taste of what’s up on Monday’s episode of TechnoRetro Dads…

Fantasy Football.

Star Wars Scrapbook.

Atomic Science Lesson.

77 minutes of TechnoRetro goodness!

JediShua and shazbazzar
climbed a ladder, but not too far,

to see what they might find.

They opened crates and found some toys

that reminded them of being boys,

and something blew their mind.

Lost in time for all these years

a Walkman — music to their ears —

and inside, a cassette.

Shua put in some double “A”s

to find out if this thing still plays…

Greetings, Programs!

Star Wars is everywhere!  Rebels begins this week (or, if you are one of the fortunate ones, it has already begun), The Clone Wars continues to release information and episodes, the Target toy aisle has some new offerings (and Toys ‘R’ Us even has an entire Star Wars aisle, again)!  With our favorite TechnoRetro franchise in high gear, we HAD to talk about it… a lot.

But that’s not all for this first Monday of fall!

Wasps invade a Colorado home.  Mac is back in L.A.  The Black Hole may or may not exist.  Uncertainty invades the realm of science like an improbability drive.  And we listen to our Ear Buds with some Scrapbook feedback and Jim’s frustration with the amount of SPOILERS on our show.

It’s a lot of fun this week on TechnoRetro Dads.

Yes, we know it’s neither morning nor Monday -- but we needed to get this special update out to all our Ear Buds about ABC’s celebration of School House Rock this Sunday night at 7/6c.  Check it out, then send us a message with your thoughts, your favorites, and your memories of School House Rock for a later episode of TechnoRetro Dads to (209) TR-TRDad or (209) 878-7323 or send us an electronic-M to podcast@TechnoRetroDads.com

There will be no regular episode this week due to USERS and PROGRAMS not feeling up to snuff last week.  We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programs soon.

Greetings, Programs!

This summer has been a wild ride (or, more literally, wild rides).  As Labor Day weekend symbolically closes the summer with one final weekend of theme park rides and water park slides, this episode marks the conclusion of our Theme Park Summer.  To wrap up the season, we invited Glen Nelson of High Adventure to join us for a last look at Theme Parks with a focus on Lake Compounce, the longest-running theme park in the nation.  He brings along a great theme song for all thrill ride lovers, “Rollercoaster”, written by Todd Howard and included on the first High Adventure album, Acoustic Prog Pop. In a bonus electronic-M, Geography expert (and Ear Bud) Greg Fields locates Holiday World and Indiana Beach.

PLUS: JediShua reveals controversy in the world of animated animals.  Audible offers a deal on R.A. Salvatore’s collection of Dungeons & Dragons stories, The Legend of Drizzt (FREE). Space travel may get a boost by the Quantum Vacuum Plasma Thruster (called “the impossible engine” by some; pronounced “pthhgt” by others).

Leave us your voicemail at (209) TR-TRDad or (209) 878-7323 or send us an electronic-M to podcast@TechnoRetroDads.com, post on our Facebook, or tweet us on Twitter.  We will be closing out the summer season next week, so it’s time to let your amusement park memories be heard!

Greetings, Programs!

Evidently, we were long overdue for a full-fledged discussion on SPOILERS and our responsibility on podcasts and social media to refrain from AMBUSHING the unwitting with movie SECRETS.  Joining the TechnoRetro Dads for a lively roundtable discussion are a distinguished group of podcasters and movie lovers:  Sarah and Richard Woloski from Skywalking through Neverland, David Dollar (and Michael Nipp) from The Deucecast, Michael Falkner from Chronic Rift’s The Weekly Podioplex, and our own JAMIE from TRON: Decoding the Grid.

PLUS: Kenner’s Boba Fett gets the life-sized treatment.  Star Wars: Rebels gets a release date in early October.  The Theme Park Summer continues with the fifteen most anticipated “rides” for 2015.

Fly! Be free!  If you remember a short and fuzzy alien observer from Ork tossing a chicken egg in the air in a popular sit-com from the seventies, you can guess who is at the heart of this episode of TechnoRetro Dads.  JediShua and shazbazzar talk about some of their favorite memories of Robin Williams from Mork & Mindy to Dead Poets Society to Aladdin to Patch Adams and more.  Monday is the day to Seize the Teeth (Carpe Dentum) and tune in to TechnoRetro Dads.

PLUS: The TechnoRetro Bowl returns this fall.  SyFy starts up a new reality program focusing on illusions and magic tricks, Wizard Wars this Tuesday.  Guardians of the Galaxy prove their soundtrack is an Awesome Mix.  Fox & Friends go bowling with food from our Ear Bud Armando.  And school supplies bring up memories of Pee Chee, Big Chief, Trapper Keepers, and NFL pencils.

Let TechnoRetro Dads Jack up your Monday mornings by Awakenings up to some burning Flubber on your phone, mp3 player, or other means of listening to your favorite podcasts. While you’re listening, let us know your favorites from the past or how you share the fun and fandom of your youth with the next generation by leaving us a voicemail at (209) TR-TRDad or (209) 878-7323.  You can send us an electronic-M to podcast@TechnoRetroDads.com, post on our Facebook, or tweet us on Twitter.
