Enjoy Movies! In the 60s, movies looked and felt quite a bit different due to Hollywood’s Hays Code. But as the 70’s neared and a rating system was established, filmmakers gained some freedom to explore the art of cinema. In 1972 Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo jumped at the opportunity to bring the vision of The Godfather to the world.
Debuting on March 24, this mobster movie set the groundwork for this genre that few films have been able to capture to this day. The pacing, thematic elements, and complex character development flowed together in a new way.
This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the classic by looking at the whole trilogy and discussing how it came about, why it’s so respected, and new ways you can experience the world of the Corleones.
