What we’re Enjoying

Jay has been rewatching some great episodes of the classic series Mythbusters and revisiting all the fun that Adam and Jamie created from blowing things up. Shua enjoyed the over the top action of the latest holiday movie Red One, starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, saving JK Simmons Santa Claus, and of course Christmas.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay watched some Jedi travel through time. Ok, they weren’t Jedi in this one, but still. Jumper features Hayden Christensen as a young time jumper and Samuel L. Jackson and the one chasing him. It was a fun idea, that didn’t quite develop the characters enough. But there was plenty to enjoy throughout. Read his article on RetroZap.com.  And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Agents Carter and Deadpool and Wolverine. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

Movies are an important part of our lives. And every decade brought more films that helped to develop who we were. This week we look back on specific movies that we are thankful for because of the impact they had. Join us as we take a retrospective look at each decade and share why we love these stories.

Are there movies that you are thankful for? Why do they stick with you? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Two tickets please” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

What we’re Enjoying

Shua found another old book. The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury was a fascinating prediction of where the human race was headed. While not all of Bradbury’s predictions may have come true, the human nature that he spotlighted is still as ugly as ever. Jay revisited the classic Bill Murray, Harold Ramis movie Stripes. Not only did he have a great time on his rewatch, he learned some interesting things about the original vision for it too.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay found some footage of the time when a gigantic creature attacked New York. Cloverfield was JJ Abrahms vision of a kaiju, filmed in a unique way. Scary and different are good ways to describe this 2008 flick.

Enjoy TV!

It’s that time of year, when the world falls in love….with the Star Wars Holiday Special! That classic forgotten show that has now been found and is readily available. But there are so many other shows that have graced the boob tube and have been lost to television oblivion. So this week we celebrate forgotten TV.  Should these show have lasted? Or was it better that they were here and gone quickly?

Do you remember any of this forgotten TV? What are some shows that you remember, but others don’t? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Hello, Larry” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. What we’re Enjoying

Jay enjoyed a lot of fun and laughs as he finished up the latest season of Only Murders in the Building. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez nailed it again along with a plethora of other stars populating season 4. And now that we know there’s going to be a season 5, you can bet there will be a cliffhanger ending. Shua checked out the new Robert Zemeckis movie “Here” with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. A movie that takes place in one place where the camera doesn’t move. The story moves back and forth through time, stringing together a story of the house and the families that lived there. Not the strongest story, but definitely worth experiencing.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay revisits the 2007 Will Smith apocalypse/zombie movie “I am Legend”. The third movie to adapt the 1954 novel by Richard Matheson. It has some great stuff throughout, despite changing the ending significantly.  Read his article on RetroZap.com.  And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Agents of SHIELD season 3. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

60 years ago, a pilot for Star Trek began filming. Would it be a success, or would it fall flat and not get picked up. The answer to both is YES! This week we look back at the original series and some of our favorite moments on Enjoy Stuff!

Let’s look back at the beginnings of one of the most successful franchises to ever be created. Beam up for Star Trek, the Original Series.

What we’re Enjoying

Shua is trying to get through all the great things he’s been enjoying the last couple months. And in the meantime he’s been listening to some Christmas music. And NO! He’s not ashamed of it at all. Jay has been watching a series on Peacock called The Resort. It’s an interesting mystery that stars Cristin Milioti and William Jackson Harper about a couple that make some interesting finds on a resort island.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week Sci-Fi Saturdays returns. Jay examines the 2007 space movie Sunshine. The movie is about a group of astronauts that are reigniting the sun, but what’s more interesting is the impressive cast. Cillian Murphy, Michelle Yeoh, Rose Byrne, Benedict Wong, and Chris Evans are among the big names that are found in this movie that has drifted into obscurity.  Read his article on RetroZap.com.  And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Agents of SHIELD season 3. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy TV!

When Gene Roddenberry was trying to get Star Trek off the ground, it took a lot of convincing of executives, the help of influential stars, and a lot of reworking of ideas, stories, and characters. They created the pilot and it wasn’t quite up to the standards that would manage to get it on the air. But eventually, the classic episodes we know and love did find their way to our TVs. Much has been written about and discussed about it’s legacy and influence, and we share some of the episodes that made it special to us. Brace for impact and get ready to explore Star Trek the original series.

Do you enjoy the original Star Trek? Which episodes do you like? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Boldly go!” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com
