What we’re Enjoying

Jay entered a Brave New World when he experienced the new Captain America movie. It was filled with action, adventure, and a very buff Harrison Ford. Are you gonna check it out? Let us know what you thought. Shua got into another book series by Dennis E. Taylor. This time about portals to other Earths and the end of the world. Quantum Earth is a great analogy of modern attitudes.Check it out.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay takes a dip in a hot tub. Hot Tub Time Machine sounds like it could be a throw away comedy, but it actually had some pretty good themes surrounding time travel and reflecting on your past mistakes. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

With the deepest respect we present some of the amazing women in Hollywood that entertain, fascinate, and inspire us. Whether they are playing a friend, an independent leader, or an action star, these women are phenomenal. Jay and Shua try to narrow down some of our favorite stars. It was a lot harder than it sounds. But we used our appreciation of their performance and their contributions to ideas and causes that affect the real world. This was only a short list of some great women. Who would you add to the list?

Who would you pick for five of your favorite actresses?  First person that emails me with the subject line, “You’re gonna hear me roar” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

Valentine's Day isn't for everyone. So if you are going to be spending this day of love to end a chapter of your life and break it off with your significant other, we have some retro break up songs that may help you out. It's time for some closure on Enjoy Stuff.

It’s not you, it’s me. Ok, it’s you. But, to lessen the impact of the fact I am breaking up with you, I have a special song recommended by the crew at Enjoy Stuff.

What we’re Enjoying

Jay Scorsesed his week away watching the classic Goodfellas. It’s a masterful piece of cinema that includes an amazing story with some great cinematic elements. Shua experienced the wacky adaptation of Back to the Future the Musical. It included some groundbreaking stage effects to help us envision a real Delorean. On tour now.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay gets post apocalyptic with Denzel Washington’s 2010 film The Book of Eli. The theming seemed a bit obvious, but after a watch, it revealed some deeper ideas that are still relevant today. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Wake up wood chuck chuckers! It's Groundhog Day! Come on a trip to Punxsutawney as we explore the lore of the legendary holiday and revisit (again) Bill Murray's classic movie on Enjoy Stuff!

Who knows what weather lies in the hearts of men? The shadow knows! Well, the groundhog’s shadow. It’s always fun to watch Bill Murray’s movie for the twentieth time, and that’s just in one viewing! Let’s look at some trivia and find out if it’s going to be an early spring, or eternal darkness.

What we’re Enjoying

What would you do if your body was being replaced by chrome nanites? How would the world react with the threat of an alien infestation? That’s the question in the book that Shua is Enjoying, “The Singularity Trap” by Dennis E. Taylor. An Audible exclusive and another great Sci-Fi book. Jay revisited an Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece from 1954, “Rear Window” starring Jimmy Stewart. One of many brilliant pieces of art from the legendary director. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay travels to Pandora in the 2009 James Cameron extravaganza, Avatar. While it may borrow ideas from a lot of different sources, it’s a beautiful watch with some important themes. So start recycling people! Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Groundhogs!

Jay and Shua take a deep dive into the history of Groundhog Day and the 1993 classic Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. They explore how the holiday started and how it turned into what we know today, where a groundhog predicts the weather for the year ahead, because, apparently, we trust rodents to be trustworthy meteorologists. The guys also dissect the beloved film, touching on the themes of personal growth, redemption, and how a guy stuck in the same day for so long can still teach us something about life. Along the way, they toss out their own theories on just how long Phil was trapped in that time loop and what it might have been like to live through it. And Jay gives Shua some trivia about the movie and the holiday that you probably didn’t know, unless, of course, you're a groundhog.

What do you like about Groundhog Day? Do you want to hear a joke about Deja Vu?  First person that emails me with the subject line, “I got you babe” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com
