What we’re Enjoying

Jay has been diving into Wonder Man, calling it a refreshing Marvel character study with sharp humor and strong performances. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley bring an unexpected buddy dynamic that makes the show feel smaller in scale but bigger in personality. Shua has been watching Disneyland: Hand Crafted on Disney+, a heartfelt documentary by Leslie Iwerks highlighting the artistry and innovation behind Disney Imagineering. It’s a thoughtful tribute to creativity, legacy, and the magic built by hand.

Sci-Fi Saturdays -

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay talks about Ghost in the Shell (2017).  Despite the controversy surrounding casting, this live-action adaptation delivers striking cyberpunk visuals, philosophical undertones, and slick sci-fi action. It’s a visually ambitious film that explores identity, humanity, and technology in a neon-soaked future. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Animated Love!

Love takes center stage this week as Jay and Shua explore romance through the lens of cartoons, comics, sci-fi, and action movies. The guys draft their animated “Hall Pass” dream dates, complete with ridiculous vehicles, over-the-top adventures, themed dinners, and end-of-night finales that range from volcanic lairs to jazz-filled swamp picnics. It’s equal parts sweet, absurd, and deeply committed to the bit.

Then things go multiversal as iconic movie couples get scrambled in a romantic crossover event no one asked for but everyone secretly needs. From cyberpunk warriors to action heroes and sitcom sweethearts, the mashups spiral into hilarious hypotheticals filled with explosions, existential dread, and neon heart emojis. It’s Valentine’s Day, Enjoy Stuff style.

Which animated character would you pick? Who would be a good mashup? Let us know! First person that emails me with the subject line, “What the world needs now, is love sweet love.” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. What we’re Enjoying

Shua has been watching Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 and found it very faithful to the book, even if the pacing felt a bit slow at times. He’s still enjoying the journey and is happy to know a third season is already on the way. Jay is diving into Star Trek: Starfleet Academy on Paramount+ and was pleasantly surprised by its quality and tone. Holly Hunter stands out, and Jay appreciates that the show doesn’t talk down to younger viewers while still feeling very much like Star Trek.

Sci-Fi Saturdays -

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay looks at Life (2017), a tense and claustrophobic sci-fi thriller about scientists aboard the ISS discovering a rapidly evolving life form from Mars. It’s gripping and well made, but definitely not something you throw on when you’re looking for a feel-good movie night.Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy The Moon!

This week, Jay and Shua take a giant leap through the Moon’s long history in fiction, film, and real-world exploration. From early writers imagining lunar voyages to Hollywood’s evolving obsession with moon bases, secret missions, and alien mysteries, the Moon has always been a perfect sci-fi playground.

They also look at how real lunar exploration influenced pop culture, from the Apollo missions to the upcoming Artemis II launch, and why the Moon continues to inspire stories across science fiction, fantasy, horror, music, and comics. Whether it’s astronauts, superheroes, or werewolves, the Moon always finds a way to steal the spotlight.

Are you excited to take steps for a man and woman, and another giant leap for mankind. Let us know! What we’re Enjoying

Jay dives into the Marvel Super Graphic book, a visually rich book that continues the oversized, data-packed style he loved in Super Graphic and Star Wars Super Graphic. It’s part reference guide, part art book, and 100% shelf candy. Shua has been enjoying NASA’s Artemis II videos while gearing up for humanity’s next trip around the Moon. The footage builds excitement, awe, and wonder to remind us space is still really, really big.

Sci-Fi Saturdays -

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay examines Passengers (2016) Starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, it tells about a malfunction on a space ship that wakes one man decades too early on a colony ship, forcing impossible choices and moral gray areas. Jay felt the film had strong potential but struggled with tone, especially given the real-world climate at the time of its release.Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Sidekicks!

This episode is all about sidekicks; the characters who stand beside the hero, hold them together, and often save the day while someone else gets the credit. Jay and Shua explore where the idea of the sidekick came from, how it evolved through mythology, comics, TV, movies, and games, and why these characters resonate even more as audiences grow older.

Who are secretly the real heroes? Who’s clearly smarter than the lead? Who’s just there to keep the main character from completely losing it. It’s a celebration of backup characters who deserve top billing… or at least a bigger slice of the spotlight.

What sidekicks do you think deserve more credit? Let us know! First person that emails me with the subject line, “Tune in next week!” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

Plus, it’s got a great soundtrack. Jay is enjoying spending some time and helping his parents in California.

Sci-Fi Saturdays -

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay spotlights Arrival (2016), diving into its thoughtful sci-fi storytelling, emotional depth, and unique take on communication and time. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Pulp!

This week’s episode is a celebration of pulp culture and the heroes who leapt off cheap paper and into pop culture history. Jay and Shua explore what pulp magazines were, why they existed, and how their fast-paced storytelling helped create icons that still resonate today.

Along the way, they bounce through masked crime fighters, jungle adventurers, space heroes, and sword-swinging legends, keeping things light, nostalgic, and full of enthusiasm. It’s a reminder that even disposable entertainment can become timeless when imagination leads the way.

The immersive performances make it feel like listening to a blockbuster movie in audiobook form.

Sci-Fi Saturdays -

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay gives ARQ (2016) the spotlight as he discusses this tense, time-looping science-fiction thriller. It’s an obscure one that is definitely worth a watch. Jay has been immersing himself in a trio of rugged, high-octane films: Vanishing Point (1971), The Inglourious Bastards (1978), and Django (1966). Enjoy A.I.!

This week, Jay and Shua close out October with the final frightening episode of the season, an exploration of Artificial Intelligence as the real monster in the machine. From HAL 9000 to Skynet, they trace the terrifying history of AI through pop culture and real-world innovation, asking whether we’ve already passed the point of no return.

We look at early milestones like Alan Turing’s theories and the rise of digital assistants, before diving into the modern AI revolution that’s reshaping creativity, media, and human interaction. Then, we share our Top 5 most disturbing AI horror films. Stories that blur the line between human control and technological terror.

In a creative twist, we debut a batch of original AI-generated horror concepts. Nightmarish tales like The Night Archivist, Static, and Insert Coin to Die, before challenging each other in a creepy guessing game of famous horror films. Between the mysterious AI hijacks, distorted sound clips, and tongue-in-cheek scares, this one’s a digital screamfest from start to finish.

Thu: The Premature Burial (1962)

Fri: Urban Legend (1998)

Sat: Pandorum (2009)

Sun: Near Dark (1987)

Enjoy Funny Vampires!

This week we’re celebrating the 40th anniversaries of two horror comedies: Transylvania 6-5000 and Once Bitten.

Transylvania 6-5000 (1985) puts Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. in the middle of a monster mash that plays like an Abbott & Costello routine with Geena Davis, Michael Richards, Carol Kane, and more. We appreciate its goofy charm and almost hysterical jokes.

Once Bitten (1985) gave Jim Carrey an early lead role as a teenager targeted by a 400-year-old vampire (Lauren Hutton) who needs his blood to stay young. With Karen Koppins as the girlfriend and a Halloween dance number that steals the show, this comedy is pure ‘80s fun. (even though some of it hasn’t aged well.

We also sink our teeth into other horror parodies of the decade, including Student Bodies (1981), Saturday the 14th (1981), Wacko (1982), Pandemonium (1982), and National Lampoon’s Class Reunion (1982).

Join Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd on a bumbling Cold War mission in Spies Like Us! We break down the laughs, the cameos, and the chaos

Our country sends nothing but the best of the best in espionage when fighting for the freedom of our country. And also decoys who are expendable. Let’s see which ones Austin Milbarge and Emmet Fitz-Hume are as we check out this classic John Landis movie.

What we’re Enjoying

Shua has been having fun with the reality-bending, body-swapping comedy of Freakier Friday, a quirky take on the classic genre. Jay, on the other hand, has been exploring the ghostly past of Maryland on a guided tour through its haunted history.

Sci-Fi Saturdays -

Enjoy Movies!

This week, we head back to the Cold War comedy days of Spies Like Us (1985), directed by John Landis and written by Dan Aykroyd, Lowell Ganz, and Babaloo Mandel. Inspired by the Hope/Crosby “Road” pictures, the film takes a satirical jab at espionage and military absurdities of the Reagan Era. Aykroyd and Chevy Chase play bumbling “spies” who are unwittingly used as decoys in a high-stakes mission to distract the Russians, only to accidentally stumble into the real operation and prevent World War III. We break down the story, the scathing humor, and the long list of cameos, from Frank Oz and Bob Hope to filmmakers Sam Raimi, Terry Gilliam, and Ray Harryhausen. We also compare Austin Milbarge and Emmett Fitz-Hume against our secret agent bracket from a few weeks back to see how they stack up in spy cinema history.

Are you a spy, like them? Do you still like the 80s political satire? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Doctor!” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

This will be very helpful to the future curators of the Museum of Jovialness. Enjoy Magic!

Magic has a rich history spanning over 4,000 years, beginning with ancient Egyptian magician Dedi, known for early “cut and restore” illusions. Modern magic was shaped by Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin in the 19th century, who brought illusions from street performances to theaters. The late 1800s to early 1900s, known as magic’s Golden Age, featured stars like Harry Houdini, who popularized escape acts and debunked fake spiritualists. As we grew up, we got to see all kinds of spectacular magic that was so hyped we couldn’t resist trying it ourselves. Magic remains a captivating blend of art, science, and mystery that continues to evolve, and we can’t get enough!

Enjoy Teen Movies!

1985 was a banner year for teen comedies, giving us characters we loved, related to, and sometimes cringed at. These movies didn’t just entertain, they helped define Generation X adolescence. Why did these films resonate so much? Because the '80s were overflowing with disposable teen cash, hungry studios, and an army of rising stars like Michael J. Fox, Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, John Cusack, and more. They gave us escapism, identity, and some truly quotable lines.

Shua just can’t get enough of James Gunn’s Superman! It’s everything his Superman should be, plus some important lessons that we could all use today. Like, right now. Enjoy Spies!

40 years ago, Roger Moore wrapped up his James Bond career with the 14th movie in the franchise, A View to a Kill. He was up against Christopher Walken’s psychotic billionaire Max Zorin who was going to “Lex Luthor” Silicon Valley so he could be more of a billionaire. 30 years ago Pierce Brosnan debuted his Bond in Goldeneye as he went up against a rogue agent played by Sean Bean. Both films have their strengths, and of course a few parts that are full of more hot air than Max Zorin’s blimp. But we love to watch them anyway.

Then we assess the non-Bond secret agents in a tournament to crown the Spycraft General! Maxwell Smart to Ethan Hunt. Jason Bourne to Austin Powers. Who will diffuse the bomb at the last second and take home the microchip?

For 87 years Superman has been thrilling fans in just about every form of media you can think of. He is well known all over the world and is highly regarded for always doing the right thing. In 1978, when Christopher Reeve brought the Man of Steel to the big screen in a way that nobody had ever experienced, it changed the superhero genre forever. Enjoy Jaws!

In 1975, seeing a movie was a little more of a laid back experience than it is today. That is, until Jaws was released. Adapted from a novel by Peter Benchley, Steven Spielberg took on the challenge of filming this movie an the actual ocean with a not-actual shark. It was an overnight success and moviegoers lined up around the block to get terrified of going to the beach. Plus, it spawned a ton of sequels and knock-offs. After this, movies changed forever. And so did Spielberg’s career. Let’s take a look at Jaws and what came after it.

Enjoy Smashing Villains!

Almost 250 years ago, the people of the American colonies rallied against tyranny to break away and work out how to live with freedom. We’re still tweaking it today obviously, but the movies can give you some great guidelines for how to get rid of those nasty, narcissistic, power hungry bullies. This week we look at some iconic bad guys and how they were defeated. And we try to think about what made them bad guys to begin with.

Enjoy Time Travel!

Forty years ago we experienced the release of a movie that would become legend. Back to the Future was a tremendous success for Robert Zemeckis, Michael J. Fox, and Christopher Lloyd. (But maybe not Biff, so much) Of course, movie success demands sequels, so a few years later we got more. The trilogy ended in the old west with the third installment which is celebrating 35 years. The BTTF movies have many parallels, so we decided to find a bunch of them and compare the first and third movies. Join in on the fun and see how many you’ve spotted.

Did you spot any more parallels? What is your experience with Back to the Future? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Great Scott!” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

That song reminds me of that special time with that special person. Music often takes us back to a moment of our life that we love to revisit. Jovial Jay and Shua share some of their favorite albums and why they love them on Enjoy Stuff.

Wipe off that vinyl and sharpen that needle because it’s time to spin some tunes. Let’s check out some of our favorite albums.

What we’re Enjoying

Shua has been revisiting the funny pages with the complete collection of Berke Breathed's Bloom County. This classic comic strip was a staple of the 80’s and spotlighted important political and social issues while selling stuffed penguins. Jay joined in the fun of so many Star Wars fans when he experienced Andor season 2. The storytelling is award-worthy, the performances were sensational, and it will go down as one of the best Star Wars tales of all time. And of course you should follow it up with Andor season three, also known as Rogue One.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay is filled with Dredd. Judge Dredd that is. The 2012 film starring Karl Urban is pretty true to the original and less campy than it’s 90s counterpart. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Music!

Doctor Oliver Sacks calls the psychological connection between the music and the brain “Musicophilia”. We call it a lot of fun. When you experience music at important times in your life, it tends to stick with you. And when you want to have some of those feelings again, all you need to do is put that album on again. Music is an important part of Jay’s and Shua’s life, and so many great memories are tied to tunes. Let’s take a look at what they are and why they like them so much.

Jay has finally found time to Enjoy his birthday game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Playstation. It’s a really fun game with a great Indy vibe. Practice in the cave and then go punch all those bad guys. Shua was pleasantly surprised to really have a great time with Pokerface season 2 starring Natasha Lyonne, now streaming on Peacock.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay does his best to find the fun in the 2012 remake of Total Recall. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go far enough away from the original with Arnold. Coming soon to own on videocassette! It was something we loved seeing, knowing that we could continue to build our ever expanding VHS movie collection. This week we talk with Chris Luby from Chris Collects Stuff on YouTube about the art of collecting VHS tapes.

Will the movie you want to rent be at the video store? We hope so. Otherwise, we’ll just watch Killer Klowns from Outer Space Again. Because it’s a classic! Let’s look into the world of VHS.

What we’re Enjoying

Shua found a cool noir detective audio drama on Audible. The Big Fix: A Jack Bergin Mystery stars Jon Hamm as the classic style detective, trying to get a wrongly accused man out of jail and solve a murder, all surrounded by the Brooklyn Dodgers moving to LA. Totally fun, and totally free. Jay has been wanting to see what the new Apple TV+ series starring Seth Rogan called The Studio. It is an interesting look at the movie industry and the chaos that makes it.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay revisits the 2012 kind-of-Alien prequel called Prometheus. It is a gory telling of the classic tale of aliens destroying man. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Video Tapes!

This week we are joined by friend and collector Chris Luby. His YouTube channel Chris Collects Stuff spotlights some of the great things he loves to collect, particularly VHS tapes. This quirky and growing hobby is not only fun, it’s also a way to preserve a historical era when we were obsessed with consuming as much media as we could, in magnetic, rectangular form. We discuss the why of the hobby, some rare finds, and some that are elusive.

What we’re Enjoying

Jay has been rewatching the ABC Marvel series Agents of SHIELD for both Location Scout and great amounts of Enjoyment. He’s on season 4 and that’s the best one. Shua found a sequel to a classic Michael Chrichton novel the Andromeda Strain with a new modern day threat called Andromeda: Evolution. There’s a little suspension of disbelief, but it’s a fun saving of the world from germs kinda story.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay refreshes his memory for destroying fascists by watching the 2012 bizarre sci-fi movie Iron Sky. Evil humans hiding on the moon since the 40s, returning to Earth to take over the world. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Star Wars!

Season 5 of Enjoy Stuff premieres with a celebration of Star Wars! Twenty years ago, we went crazy all summer seeing what we thought would be the last Star Wars movie ever; Revenge of the Sith. It was an exciting year of hype, merchandise, and standing in lines. But then, we got an exciting Christmas present when a sequel to our favorite galaxy was released. The Force Awakens awakened that excitement it had been so long since we felt. More Celebrations, more hype, more merchandise, and more lines (although, much easier to navigate). Let’s take a look back at two giant Star Wars films.

Check out Jay’s article about Revenge of the Sith from 2005 here

Shua got super smart this week with the Val Kilmer classic Real Genius. Does it still have messages for us today, or is it just a hilarious movie? Jay continues his ride along the western trail with two James Garner comedies; Support Your Local Sheriff and Support Your Local Gunfighter. These movies are a fun addition to the genre with James Garner showing his skill as a comedic actor. Check out these movies and see how you like them.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay analyzes the underrated 2012 imagining of a classic tale, John Carter. The story may be outdated, but it has a lot of good sci-fi within. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Music!

It’s time once again to play ‘5 Songs’! The game where we see if our brain connects music to memories of the classic pop culture we grew up with. What we’re Enjoying

Jay continues to ride the trail of Western Movies, but adds a little prehistoric this week with his viewing of One Million Years BC. The quality of this Ray Harryhausen movie may not have been at the top of his list, but it was still an interesting idea and had some crazy genre mashups. Shua found some cool YouTube channels that have some great, high quality classic Pink Panther cartoons. It’s a great way to have some retro in the background.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay gets real with the 2011 Hugh Jackman movie Real Steel. This often overlooked film has a lot of great robot action in the boxing ring, like a mechanical Rocky. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Video Games!

We loved spending time in the arcade as we were growing up. We tried to use our quarters wisely and budget them for the maximum experience possible. But sometimes we had to cram a lot of them into games over and over because they were so hard. Which ones were the most challenging? Were they the same ones you struggled with? Let’s see what the internet said and decide if we agree.

What we’re Enjoying

Shua was surprised how much fun the new A24 movie Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. It’s not just a horror movie with a killer horse with a horn. There’s much more to the story and themes of the film. Jay is still enjoying westerns with a variety of tellings of the same, classic story. Tombstone (1993) and Gunfight at the OK Corral (1957). Inspired by news of Val Kilmer, Tombstone reminds us why this performance is so well loved. And Gunfight… spotlights the decade it was made with a different kind of interpretation. Check them all out and let us know how you like them.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay analyzes the first movie in the newest Planet of the Apes franchise. 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes started off as it’s own story, not connected to the idea that the originals created. But it soon became obvious that it was much more complex. An interesting take on how those Apes could have come into power. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

Jay lives and breathes Sci-Fi movies. So what better party theme than Sci-Fi! We look at the decades of the second half of the 20th century and pick out some of our favorite and influential movies. What we’re Enjoying

Jay revisited a classic 1955 Spencer Tracy classic called Bad Day at Black Rock. It’s a modern day western and mystery that will keep you in suspense and keep you guessing what’s really happening. You can find it at AppleTV. Shua read the last Dennis E. Taylor of his published works, Feedback. It’s a very short, but very mind bending time travel tale and the weird results that it might cause. You can check it out on Audible.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay puts on the chaps and revisits the 2011 Jon Favreau passion project Cowboys & Aliens. It’s a blending of genres in a fun action outing with Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig.  Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Video Games!

In 2005 game developers Traveller’s Tales was tasked to create a blending of Star Wars with LEGO. The amazing LEGO sets had been out for six years at this point, but could it be translated into an interactive world? Turns out the answer is not only ‘yes’, but it’s ‘Yes, and it’s going to be the first of many iconic follow ups with Star Wars and a variety of other franchises.’ Let’s take a trip back to the beginnings of the LEGO company and how it evolved into this digital version and interpretation of favorite characters and settings. Then let’s look at why we love it so much!

Jay found the Wired Autocomplete interview with Ke Huy Quan on YouTube, and it is as amazing as it sounds. Even when he is acting completely out of character, for laughs. Shua found an unexpected gem in the new movie in theaters called Black Bag. It’s not your typical spy movie, starring Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett. It keeps you guessing as you figure out who the real villain actually is.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay reviews the 2011 thriller The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. It’s a sci-fi tale that makes us question whether we are actually in charge of our own fate. Or is Matt Damon really in charge of my life, because honestly, he can take over. Sci-Fi Saturdays

So this year Enjoy Stuff recognizes the other movies. The ones we cheered (or jeered) for, the lighthearted, the goofy. With the votes of our Earbuds, Jay and Shua hand out the Martys (Movies Are Really Timeless, Y’know) for the first annual Enjoy Stuff Alternative Awards.

Which movies were you rooting for? Which ones didn’t make the cut?  First person that emails me with the subject line, “And the Marty goes to…” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

What we’re Enjoying

Jay entered a Brave New World when he experienced the new Captain America movie. It was filled with action, adventure, and a very buff Harrison Ford. Are you gonna check it out? Let us know what you thought. Shua got into another book series by Dennis E. Taylor. This time about portals to other Earths and the end of the world. Quantum Earth is a great analogy of modern attitudes.Check it out.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay takes a dip in a hot tub. Hot Tub Time Machine sounds like it could be a throw away comedy, but it actually had some pretty good themes surrounding time travel and reflecting on your past mistakes. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

With the deepest respect we present some of the amazing women in Hollywood that entertain, fascinate, and inspire us. Whether they are playing a friend, an independent leader, or an action star, these women are phenomenal. Jay and Shua try to narrow down some of our favorite stars. It was a lot harder than it sounds. But we used our appreciation of their performance and their contributions to ideas and causes that affect the real world. This was only a short list of some great women. Who would you add to the list?

Who would you pick for five of your favorite actresses?  First person that emails me with the subject line, “You’re gonna hear me roar” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

What we’re Enjoying

Jay Scorsesed his week away watching the classic Goodfellas. It’s a masterful piece of cinema that includes an amazing story with some great cinematic elements. Shua experienced the wacky adaptation of Back to the Future the Musical. It included some groundbreaking stage effects to help us envision a real Delorean. On tour now.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay gets post apocalyptic with Denzel Washington’s 2010 film The Book of Eli. The theming seemed a bit obvious, but after a watch, it revealed some deeper ideas that are still relevant today. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Moving On!

It’s Valentine’s Day! Enjoy the amore. Unless it’s time to move on of course. It’s never fun to get to the point where your relationship ends. But if you can lessen the blow (or make it stronger if necessary) then we have what you need. Retro break up songs! We will give you a nice list that should fit whatever situation you may be in. Who knows what weather lies in the hearts of men? The shadow knows! Well, the groundhog’s shadow. It’s always fun to watch Bill Murray’s movie for the twentieth time, and that’s just in one viewing! Let’s look at some trivia and find out if it’s going to be an early spring, or eternal darkness.

What we’re Enjoying

What would you do if your body was being replaced by chrome nanites? How would the world react with the threat of an alien infestation? That’s the question in the book that Shua is Enjoying, “The Singularity Trap” by Dennis E. Taylor. An Audible exclusive and another great Sci-Fi book. Jay revisited an Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece from 1954, “Rear Window” starring Jimmy Stewart. One of many brilliant pieces of art from the legendary director. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay travels to Pandora in the 2009 James Cameron extravaganza, Avatar. While it may borrow ideas from a lot of different sources, it’s a beautiful watch with some important themes. So start recycling people! Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Groundhogs!

Jay and Shua take a deep dive into the history of Groundhog Day and the 1993 classic Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. They explore how the holiday started and how it turned into what we know today, where a groundhog predicts the weather for the year ahead, because, apparently, we trust rodents to be trustworthy meteorologists. The guys also dissect the beloved film, touching on the themes of personal growth, redemption, and how a guy stuck in the same day for so long can still teach us something about life. Along the way, they toss out their own theories on just how long Phil was trapped in that time loop and what it might have been like to live through it. And Jay gives Shua some trivia about the movie and the holiday that you probably didn’t know, unless, of course, you're a groundhog.

What do you like about Groundhog Day? Do you want to hear a joke about Deja Vu?  First person that emails me with the subject line, “I got you babe” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

What would you do for peace? Jay knows, because he’s been watching the James Gunn DC series Peacemaker, starring John Cena. Season 2 is coming soon. Shua has been rewatching the SyFy series Resident Alien with Alan Tudyk. A funny show about an alien that’s trying to fit in in a small Colorado town. Season 4 comes later this year.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay uses a different body to rewatch the 2009 Bruce Willis movie Surrogates. In the not too distant future there’s been murders in a very unique and science fiction way. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Apes!

This week we’re taking a deep dive into the Planet of the Apes franchise, starting with the original five films that changed the sci-fi landscape forever. From groundbreaking makeup effects to thought-provoking themes about society, freedom, and the future, we’ll break down what made these films so iconic. We’ll even talk about that legendary twist ending—spoiler alert: it’s not just the apes who are monkeying with time! Get ready for a walk through the ‘60s and ‘70s, where human civilization was thrown into chaos… but at least there were plenty of monkeys to blame.

Then, we swing into the remakes, reboots, and the massive media expansion that followed. From the 2001 Tim Burton film to the recent reboots, we’ll discuss how the franchise evolved and stayed relevant in the modern era. We’ll also chat about the Planet of the Apes animated series, the live-action TV show, and even the comic books that kept the ape-filled madness alive. It's a bananas good time, so don’t go ape on us—tune in for a full breakdown of everything from the original films to the latest apes on screen!

And, as an added bonus, we play a game of Deli Food or Ape? What game is that? Tune in to find out!

What we’re Enjoying

Is life really a happy song? Shua tried to find out when he rewatched a Shua Family favorite, the 2011 revival, The Muppets. It’s a fun romp with the classic characters and a few new friends, like the whistling Muppet fan, Walter. Plus, it resurfaced some great memories with his kids. Jay re-read Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline. Despite not having the same umph as the first book, there were some good moments that celebrated the pop culture we grew up with.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay slingshots back and forth with The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009). In this fairly unique take on time travel, Henry (Eric Bana) has a genetic condition that causes him to boomerang through time. Which makes it pretty hard for Clare (Rachel McAdams) to have an engaging marriage, (or at least throw a good surprise party).  Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Toys!

Jay and Shua are celebrating Mattel's 80th anniversary by taking a nostalgic deep dive into the legendary toy company's history. From Barbie’s dream house to Hot Wheels' epic car chases, they explore the toys that made generations of kids skip school, forget chores, and sometimes go through barrels of batteries playing Electronic Football. With a side of humor and a sprinkle of nostalgia, they also discuss the evolution of Mattel’s lineup, including the iconic He-Man action figures—because nothing says "childhood" like battling over who had the better sword.

The guys also dig into some classics too, like the 3D magic of the View-Master (which was basically your first VR headset, minus the headache) and the intense, back-and-forth slugfests of Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. As they chat about Mattel's rise to toy royalty, they’ll take you on a wild ride through their most cherished memories, sharing funny stories about toys that taught us all how to "play hard" and sometimes "play dirty." Get ready for a rollercoaster of laughs and memories as they celebrate the legacy of a company that’s been keeping kids (and adults) entertained for eight decades.

Did we mention one of your favorite Mattel toys? Which ones shaped your childhood? What we’re Enjoying

Jay got a little nutty by rewatching some old Jerry Lewis comedies. The Ladies Man and The Errand Boy are classic Lewis humor that is a great break from the real world. Shua is surprisingly enjoying the pirate themed series Star Wars Skeleton Crew. A romp through the galaxy that crosses Star Wars with the Goonies.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay examines some social commentary with Neill Blomkamp’s District 9. The 2009 alien immigrant film reflects a sad and ugly truth about the way humans treat each other. A gritty story set in the near future that features a poor character slowly realizes that bigotry is an issue that everyone should be aware and try to eliminate. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Dragons!

Dragon tales have been told since the times of Mesopotamian mythology. Some believe that dragons may have been creatures to watch out for as far back as 75,000 years ago in South Africa. Whenever they began, their popularity has not waned. So when we began to make motion pictures, dragons were the perfect foils. We look at dragons from Puff to Maleficent to King Ghidorah. Are they rideable? What are some defining characteristics? Are they good or bad. Hop on for luck as Enjoy Stuff gets dragony!

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay blasts off with the 2009 movie Moon. Sam Rockwell is an astronaut that has spent years in space and faces challenges right before getting back. A crazy time travel experience that explores the psyche. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

Fans of Monty Python may know Terry Gilliam as the animator of their bizarre cartoons featured on the show. Or as the only American born member of the legendary troupe. But as his career progressed, Gilliam took his imaginative talents to the director’s chair. His visually stunning and sometimes uncomfortable films thrust you into dream-like worlds and explored important characteristics of society. From the time-hopping child view of Time Bandits, to the award winning exploration of class structure in Brazil, Gilliam takes you on a brain trip with each of his tales. If it weren’t for his terrible luck during productions, we may have even more to explore. This is Terry Gilliam.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay writes about the 2009 reboot of Star Trek with Chris Pine, Zach Quinto, and a variety of talented actors and actresses that give their interpretations of the beloved characters. Shua found a new series of books by an author named Dennis E. Taylor. It’s all about a guy named Bob, who’s been revived 150 years after his death in the 21st century and had his consciousness placed inside a self-replicating computer, spaceship. His directive is to find a new home for the dying human race. Soon he has the makings of many copies of himself, creating the Bob-iverse. Jay has been enjoying James Gunn’s first DC release in the animated series Creature Commandos on Max. An adult show that is proving to be a unique take on the superhero/monster genre

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay pulled a lot of resources to review Push. It’s a different kind of superhero movie and features Dakota Fanning and a pre-MCU Chris Evans. He also tells us about a little known sci-fi movie called Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel. It takes all the tropes of time travel movies and throws it into a fun comedy. Jackson and the one chasing him. It was a fun idea, that didn’t quite develop the characters enough. But there was plenty to enjoy throughout. Read his article on RetroZap.com.  And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Agents Carter and Deadpool and Wolverine. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

Movies are an important part of our lives. And every decade brought more films that helped to develop who we were. This week we look back on specific movies that we are thankful for because of the impact they had. Join us as we take a retrospective look at each decade and share why we love these stories.

Are there movies that you are thankful for? Why do they stick with you? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Two tickets please” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

What we’re Enjoying

Shua found another old book. The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury was a fascinating prediction of where the human race was headed. While not all of Bradbury’s predictions may have come true, the human nature that he spotlighted is still as ugly as ever. Jay revisited the classic Bill Murray, Harold Ramis movie Stripes. Not only did he have a great time on his rewatch, he learned some interesting things about the original vision for it too.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay found some footage of the time when a gigantic creature attacked New York. Cloverfield was JJ Abrahms vision of a kaiju, filmed in a unique way. Scary and different are good ways to describe this 2008 flick.

It’s that time of year, when the world falls in love….with the Star Wars Holiday Special! That classic forgotten show that has now been found and is readily available. But there are so many other shows that have graced the boob tube and have been lost to television oblivion. So this week we celebrate forgotten TV.  Should these show have lasted? Or was it better that they were here and gone quickly?

What we’re Enjoying

Jay enjoyed a lot of fun and laughs as he finished up the latest season of Only Murders in the Building. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez nailed it again along with a plethora of other stars populating season 4. And now that we know there’s going to be a season 5, you can bet there will be a cliffhanger ending. Shua checked out the new Robert Zemeckis movie “Here” with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. A movie that takes place in one place where the camera doesn’t move. The story moves back and forth through time, stringing together a story of the house and the families that lived there. Not the strongest story, but definitely worth experiencing.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay revisits the 2007 Will Smith apocalypse/zombie movie “I am Legend”. The third movie to adapt the 1954 novel by Richard Matheson. It has some great stuff throughout, despite changing the ending significantly.  Read his article on RetroZap.com.  And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. What we’re Enjoying

Shua is trying to get through all the great things he’s been enjoying the last couple months. And in the meantime he’s been listening to some Christmas music. And NO! He’s not ashamed of it at all. Jay has been watching a series on Peacock called The Resort. It’s an interesting mystery that stars Cristin Milioti and William Jackson Harper about a couple that make some interesting finds on a resort island.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week Sci-Fi Saturdays returns. Jay examines the 2007 space movie Sunshine. The movie is about a group of astronauts that are reigniting the sun, but what’s more interesting is the impressive cast. Cillian Murphy, Michelle Yeoh, Rose Byrne, Benedict Wong, and Chris Evans are among the big names that are found in this movie that has drifted into obscurity.  Read his article on RetroZap.com.  And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Agents of SHIELD season 3. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy TV!

When Gene Roddenberry was trying to get Star Trek off the ground, it took a lot of convincing of executives, the help of influential stars, and a lot of reworking of ideas, stories, and characters. They created the pilot and it wasn’t quite up to the standards that would manage to get it on the air. But eventually, the classic episodes we know and love did find their way to our TVs. Much has been written about and discussed about it’s legacy and influence, and we share some of the episodes that made it special to us. Brace for impact and get ready to explore Star Trek the original series.

What we’re Enjoying

Jay has been powering through his 31 Days of Horror and found a gem with the Irish horror/comedy 2012 movie Grabbers. It’s a lot like Tremors, but with more Ireland and more drinking. It was scary, funny, and entertaining. Shua couldn’t wait to watch the documentary ¡Casa Bonita mi Amor! It’s the story of South Park creator Trey Parker buying his favorite childhood destination, the famous Mexican restaurant Casa Bonita. Turns out this was Shua’s place of employment for 23 years, so he was really interested.

Enjoy Being Scared!

You can’t deny that people can’t seem to get enough of getting scared. Psychologists think that there might be a reason that we keep coming back to spooky situations. And it may just help us survive. After examining exactly what happens when something frightening happens, we start to examine our own fears.

Then the fun begins. What’s better than talking about scary things? Making you pick from two different scary things. We run down the list of the most prominent fears and ask you which one you’d rather experience. Can you get through the whole show with the lights off? Come find out!

What we’re Enjoying

Shua was not ready for prime time when he saw the new movie Saturday Night. It’s the tale of the first, hectic night of the long running NBC skit comedy show Saturday Night Live. While not being 100% accurate, it is very informative and extremely entertaining with good performances of the legendary comedians and others involved in the creation of this American icon. Jay is Enjoying the HBO dramatic series The Penguin, an origin story of the classic DC comics Batman villain. Colin Farrell’s amazing transformation into the title character is phenomenal.

Enjoy Witches!

For hundreds of years witches have been the source of stories and fear. But the origins and creators of these fears are way scarier than what might have been actual practicing witches. A written record of a witch dates back almost 3000 years ago. In the mid 1400s some really ignorant and cowardly men wrote a book that created a hysteria of violence towards women who they accused of practicing witchcraft (whether they were or not)

Have we become wiser and more evolved today? Well, probably not. But we have a ton of witch characters in TV, books, and movies that can entertain us and even make us question the wisdom of how we treat others. Classic characters like Elphaba and Glenda from Wizard of Oz have lasted generations. Cartoon favorites like Maleficent, Broomhilda, and Sabrina gave us opportunities to laugh at the characters as kids.

Then, at the end of the 20th century, the characters in Harry Potter truly showed that witches could be powerful heroes. It really changed people’s perspectives of witches in our culture. Now we see them pop up in all kinds of different ways, both good and bad. We have no doubt that witches’ legendary status will last forever.

Which witch do you watch? Who's your favorite? First person that emails me with the subject line, “I’ll get you my little pretty” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

Jay is enjoying the latest MCU outing on Disney+ with Agatha All Along. This witchy series has a familiar feeling while also being pretty unique. You can check out new episodes through October. Shua has been lazy reading a 2007 BBC radio drama based on the Douglas Adams series Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. It stars Harry Enfield, Billy Boyd, and academy award winner Olivia Coleman. Crazy fun British humor.

Enjoy John Candy!

John Candy was a Canadian actor, comedian, and all around nice guy. His humor was spotlighted on the series SCTV and expanded into the movies. Sometimes he played secondary characters, but other times he played a lovable and bumbling hero that we loved to root for. His life ended way too early, but he left us with some great comedy to enjoy for years to come.

Since we are closer and closer to Halloween, we pair some of the most popular candies with some of John Candy’s best movies. What a tasty way to laugh!

Enjoy Haunted Houses!

Welcome foolish Earbuds! We will take you on a tour of Haunted Houses from movies, TV, and the real world. What is it about an old spooky house that is falling apart, and making mysterious noises…and people died there that scares us so much? Maybe there’s no rational explanation, but it sure is fun. There have been countless stories for generations that get our blood flowing and our heart racing fast.

But movies and TV aren’t the only place you can get frightened of a casa. There are real life ones that you can visit to hear histories of horror such as the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado or the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California.

And of course the classic haunted houses in theme parks such as the Haunted Mansion in several Disney Parks and others across the globe.

What we’re Enjoying

After the premiere of Agatha All Along on Disney+, Jay jumped headfirst into another Witches’ Road. He watched The Wizard of Oz for the first time in years. Turns out it’s still a good movie and really quite creepy. It’s easy to find and a definite classic you should revisit (or check out for the first time) Shua and his wife ventured out to a movie night at the Alamo. Without many expectations, they were pleasantly surprised by the newest animated interpretation of a classic toy, Transformers One. With a good story, an all-star cast, and great animation, it really put everything together in an entertaining way.

Enjoy Music!

We love our space songs. Not soundtracks from sci-fi (although those are great too) but songs that artists have written specifically about space. This week we examine some of our favorites throughout history. From Lounge to Classic Rock, there is no shortage of cosmic music that you can use to imagine you are peacefully (or dramatically) floating through the starscape. Songs we include are:

The Planets - Gustav Holst

2000 Light Years from Home - The Rolling Stones

Fly Me to the Moon - Frank Sinatra

Cygnus X-1 - Rush

Starman - David Bowie

Children of the Sun - Billy Thorpe

Rocket Man - Elton John

Slime Creatures from Outer Space - Weird Al

Flash - Queen

Astronaut - Duran Duran

Across the Universe - The Beatles

Dancing in Heaven (Orbital Be-Bop) - Q-Feel

Space Oddity - David Bowie

Countdown - Rush

Space Invaders - Uncle Vic

Major Tom (Coming Home) - Peter Schilling

Interplanet Janet - SchoolHouse Rock

Intergalactic - Beastie Boys

The Galaxy Song - Monty Python’s Meaning of Life

Space Cowboy - Steve Miller

Walking on the Moon - The Police

Major Tom (Coming Home) - William Shatner

Space Oddity - Astronaut Chris Hadfield from the International Space Station

What we’re Enjoying

Shua jumped head first into the pile of bricks that is LEGO Star Wars Rebuilding the Galaxy. He can give it his recommendation as a fun Star Wars story and a fun LEGO parody. There’s some fun new characters that you’ll grow to enjoy and some great cameos from Star Wars favorites. Check it out on Disney+. Jay is enjoying the second season of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It has a more epic feel and is giving a very entertaining interpretation of Tolkien’s Middle Earth backstory of the origin of the rings and of Sauron.

Enjoy Movies!

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong met in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1969, and started a friendship that lasts to today. They found they had a similar sense of humor and began improv together. They expanded to opening for others, and eventually headlining large venues. Their movies aren’t deep, and often centered around infantile and drug humor, but it influenced a lot of people and set us on the path of understanding…well, a little. We still don’t understand the Corsican Brothers. Whether you loved them or hated them, they have been an important part of our culture and the comedy world.

Jay did a rewatch of Ted Lasso season 3 and was reminded how incredible this show really was. With rumors of a season 4 possible, now’s a great time to go back and check out the jokes and the heart of the show starring Jason Sudeikis and a variety of very talented actors. Ted Lasso can be found on AppleTV+.  Shua is enjoying the new season of Only Murders in the Building starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. He’s not surprised that it’s good, but it’s been especially touching this season and still hysterical. Only Murders in the Building is on Hulu.

Enjoy Movies!

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice is a sequel 36 years in the making. Opinions seem to be varied on how enjoyable it is. But we are going to take a look at the positive aspects of checking it out. Shua seems to be overcoming his avoidance of scary movies. He watched A Quiet Place: Day One with Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn. It was an intense addition to the franchise and gives us a terrifying origin story for our planet’s downfall. Jay is spending some of the waning summer days playing disc golf with his son. What we’re Enjoying

Greedy people may annoy all of us, but they make for an entertaining movie. Jay enjoyed the Joseph Gordon Levitt dark comedy Greedy People. It has a lot of twists and unexpected surprises that keep you entertained. So be prepared for an unexpected ending. Shua revisited the 1979 new beginning for a franchise. Star Trek - The Motion Picture may not be the best Trek film, but it has it’s merits, and it kept the universe alive.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay reluctantly added the 2007 adaptation of the much loved 80s cartoon Transformers. This Michael Bay film was definitely a spectacle, but could it live up with our expectations? It depends who you ask, but either way, Jay breaks it down and gives his analysis on Sci-Fi Saturdays. Enjoy Movies!

40 years ago Steve Martin’s movie career was really on the rise. He teamed up for the fourth time with Carl Reiner for the “body swap” comedy All of Me with Lily Tomlin. She plays Edwina Cutwater, a very rich woman who is about to die. Instead of coming to terms with it, she has hired a Swami to put her soul into Terry Hoskins, the daughter of Edwina’s stable master Fred. But in a freak accident, she gets put in Steve Martin’s Roger Cobb instead. Now he has to find the Swami to fix it all. It was a fun concept and holds up today. We look back on it all and talk about why we love it.

What we’re Enjoying

In a rare display of bravery, Shua went to see Alien: Romulus. He thought it was a nice addition to the franchise and felt like a sequel to the first one. And there are some fun surprises. Jay decided to check out last year’s Paul Giammati’s character film, The Holdovers. He was pleasantly surprised by the acting and story.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay experienced the 2006 anime Paprika for the first time. It was a cool action movie about a dream machine in the vein of Inception and Dreamscape. In the end, he enjoyed it and can recommend it. Read his article on RetroZap.com.  And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. This week we are looking at examples of a “perfect” album. Or at least a side of an album. To us, that’s the kind of album that you can listen to without wanting to skip a track. This is a subjective topic, of course, but we have a nice list of records that we think a lot of people love. Which ones did we pick? What did some of our Discord users pick? Listen to find out.

What we’re Enjoying

Jay was reminded of a Michael Keaton movie from earlier this year called Knox Goes Away. It starts off as a movie about an assassin who is looking to get out of the business. But it quickly turns unique when you find out that Keaton’s character has a quickly worsening form of dementia. You can check it out on Apple TV+ or Max. Shua grabbed an old Sci-Fi paperback from his shelf called Earthship and Starsong by Ethan I. Shedley. It never made it into the annals of sci-fi legends, but it is an interesting tale of humans' quest (and selfishness) for survival in the universe. Unfortunately we made enemies of everyone else in the universe. You can find this book on Amazon and other online sources.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay has reminded us of a 2006 Hugh Jackman movie called The Fountain. This unique movie tells a similar tale about a doomed couple from different time periods of history, which spans thousands of years. Check out all of Jay’s articles on Sci-Fi Saturdays, only on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Agents of SHIELD season 3. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

40 years ago, a movie was released that was based on a possibly true story from 40 years before. Michael Pare and Nancy Allen star in the Philadelphia Experiment. Pare and Bobby DiCicco’s characters get flung forward in time to 1984 following a failed Navy experiment in World War II. Their problems weren’t over because they were still connected to the bizarre vortex that sent them there, causing painful outbreaks of electricity. Plus, the scientist who caused the accident, did it again with a whole town. Now Pare has to get back to stop it.

The movie is often compared to another WWII time travel movie called The Final Countdown. In that movie, the time travel happens in reverse, sending the USS Nimitz back to 1941 just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Which movie did it better? We compare them and explain which one we like the best.

What we’re Enjoying

Shua is Enjoying a new late night show starring young comedienne Taylor Tomlinson called After Midnight. It’s a pretend game show where comedians and celebrities answer goofy questions about the internet and modern day goings-on. Clips of the CBS show can be found on YouTube. Jay is watching the new Time Bandits homage created by Taika Waititi. It’s only a few episodes in, so we are reserving judgment. It doesn’t feel exactly like Terry Gilliam’s original, but it is a cute story in it’s own right. You can find Time Bandits on Apple TV+.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

What we’re Enjoying

Jay took a trip to the other side of the world to Tuscany, Italy. It was a relaxing (yet very hot) trip to the old country to enjoy a little relaxing environment. Shua traveled to Anaheim, California and enjoyed Pixar Fest at Disneyland. They both had great vacations but are happy to be home.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays we talk about 3 different sci-fi movies that Jay has analyzed. Idiocracy makes some bold (and sometimes accurate) predictions of the future of our country. The Prestige was a bizarre tale of two competing magicians and a Tesla machine. And Children of Men presented a scary dystopia where there are no new babies in the world and how that is really going to screw us up. Educate yourself and check out all of Jay’s articles on Sci-Fi Saturdays, only on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Enjoy MacGuffins!

You’ve probably heard of a MacGuffin, but do you actually know what it is? MacGuffins themselves have been around about as long as stories, but the term originated in the 1920s and was made popular by the master, Alfred Hitchcock himself. While Hitchcock believed that the MacGuffin isn’t important to anyone but the characters in the story, George Lucas believes that it can be a very strong emotional connection to the people enjoying the story.

VS movies! It's like standing in the hallway watching two other kids fighting it out and you're not the one getting in trouble. Hollywood discovered years ago that audiences wondered what it would be like if some of their favorite characters duked it out. Let’s find out!

What we’re Enjoying

After writing about Serenity for Sci-Fi Saturdays, Jay couldn’t help going back to check out the 2002 series Firefly. It was such a great idea for a new universe. While we wish we could have gotten more episodes, we are grateful for the ones we have. Shua watched the new Ron Howard documentary about an entertainment icon. Jim Henson: Idea Man laid out the interesting and sometimes disjointed life of the main behind the Muppets. It’s a very enlightening watch.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay breaks down the groundbreaking and almost experimental 2006 film A Scanner Darkly. It’s an animated film starring Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr. and several other well-known Hollywood elite. Based on a 1977 novel by Philip K. Dick, it takes place in a dystopian future but has some important messages for us today. Check out the breakdown now. Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Deadpool 1 and 2 in preparation for the new movie. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

In the 1940s, Hollywood had found a strong audience for monster movies. Dracula, Frankenstein, and many more. We also craved our sci-fi attacks. But what if we started pitting some of those creatures against each other? It’s like the classic boxing matches that everyone got excited for.

When Godzilla arrived on screen, it didn’t take long to see how the battles could be even bigger! (pun intended) Those ‘vs’ movies started with him battling another behemoth star named King Kong. The pandora’s box of ‘vs’ ideas had been open and now creators were matching all kinds of characters so that now we have a whole slew of exciting flicks. Jay and Shua generate a random list of characters and try to decide who would win if they made a movie with them.

What we’re Enjoying

Before Shua Enjoyed his first hurricane in Cancun Mexico, he got the opportunity to swim with dolphins. It was a very cool experience that helped him get in touch with nature. Jay tuned in to the new Beverly Hills Cop movie on Netflix. It did a great job of using some of the things that worked with the originals while modernizing it for today’s audiences.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay examined an experimental movie called Aeon Flux. This 2005 Charlize Theron film was based on an animated show, but production problems affected the final outcome after the director was held back from doing what was needed to polish it properly. Still fun to check out. Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Deadpool 1 and 2 in preparation for the new movie. Enjoy Science!

It’s Shua’s birthday! So we decided to celebrate with one of his passions, SCIENCE! As we were growing up we were so engaged when we encountered science. Whether it was an educational show with Carl Sagan, Beakman, or Bill Nye, or hands-on activities in class we loved to experiment and learn how the world worked.

Then Jay lays down some science trivia to see if Shua can stand by the knowledge he claims to have. And he opens his gifts to start his week of right.

What we’re Enjoying

Jay found an old black and white noir film called The Big Combo from 1955. It had some great examples of the mystery movies of the time. And some great performances from a few people you might recognize, such as Lee Van Cleef. Shua has been watching a very retro show on the Shout! Studios YouTube channel called Space: 1999. This was a show, pre-Star Wars that inspired Shua to enjoy sci-fi. You can check it out now, along with some other cool retro shows.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay revisits the cinematic story from the Firefly universe. Serenity came out in 2005 in response to fans of the show that wanted more after its untimely cancellation. The movie also successfully tells a story of a fun western/sci-fi hybrid world. Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

This week in the United States is Independence Day. A time for the country to celebrate breaking away from a big empire. So this week we look at some filmmakers that break away from big empires of movie studios to do their own thing and get out a story that they are passionate about.

Well-known directors such as George Lucas, John Carpenter, George Miller, Kevin Smith, and Quentin Tarantino all got their starts by making small, independent movies. Not all filmmakers garnish as much power as these directors. Some remain small, but no less dedicated to their work. So kick up your feet and put on a movie that you may not have heard of before.

Shua was not ashamed to bust out the tissues as he watched the latest Pixar story featuring all our crazy emotions in Inside Out 2. It was a really great representation of becoming a teenager and can help people understand what emotions feel like. Jay is enjoying his newly installed built-in cabinets. This isn’t one of those sitting-in-the-middle-of-the-room knock offs. No, these things are built right in there. So next time you need to hide from a pack of furry, toothy, alien critters, these are perfect for you!

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Obi-Wan Kenobi trades Coruscant for an island in the 2005 futuristic thriller The Island, starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. Set in a seemingly utopian society, our heroes make a discovery that cranks up the action and suddenly they will have to make their escape. Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

In 1984 Ivan Reitman presented a unique and entertaining comedy that most people thought would never work. Written by Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis, it told the story of some unusual scientists who make a paranormal discovery  that would transform New York into… You know what? You already know the plot. What really made this movie stand out was the comedy of Bill Murry, Dan Aykroyd, and all the other popular actors and comedians that filled the screen in every scene. It became the number one movie of the year, even beating out Indiana Jones!

But how could they ever follow up the success? The inevitable sequel came out 5 years later. When we find the boys this time, they are a little down on their luck. Luckily, an evil, possessed painting is going to put them back in business. Peter and Dana are no longer together and she even has a baby from a failed marriage. While this sequel didn’t match the success of the first movie, it was still a fun romp with the dead and we got to see that humor again.

What we’re Enjoying

Jay grabbed a Marvel comic book series from 2011 called Legion of Monsters. It’s a riotous romp with classic comic monsters like Morbius, Werewolf by Night, the Living Mummy and Manphibian. Time to get spooky! Shua has been very busy, but has high praise for the 1970 documentary film Let It Be, all about the Beatles famous rooftop concert. After all the work Peter Jackson did on the Get Back series last year, they were able to restore the original and it looks great!

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay cultivated some red plants with the Spielberg version of War of the Worlds (2005). Tom Cruise leads up this modern day (and more accurate) telling of the classic 1898 HG Wells novel. It made for a much darker and realistic version people may not have been expecting. But we continue to be grateful that those Martians caught a cold. Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

Since Chinatown was released in 1974, it has held its spot on many lists of great screenplays. Written by Robert Towne and directed by controversial director Roman Polanski, it tells the story of Private Investigator Jake Gittes, who is hired to find out if a woman’s husband is cheating on her. But things get complicated quickly as Jake discovers that the man is a high ranking official with the LA Water and Power Company and is being paid to steal water during a drought. The corruption goes very deep and Jake is thrown into it much deeper than he ever imagined (pun intended)

This movie brings the audience along with Jake as he discovers the clues as they get more and more complex. I was a noir film, with some of the tropes that go along with that, but it defied expectations of characters and plot twists. Film classes still teach this film as an example of great writing and when you watch it through the lens of good cinema, it improves your experience tremendously.

Shua was very impressed with George Miller’s latest post-apocalyptic story Furiosa. Action, brilliant cinematography, and smart themes enhance this masterpiece. What we’re Enjoying

Jay’s love for comics has led him to a new Marvel series by Garth Ennis about a captured Nick Fury who has to be rescued by Lt. Frank Castle. A wild action, war comic that brings back the feel of the past with the nuances of modern storytelling. Shua listened to an audible exclusive audio drama by actress Felicia Day called Third Eye. It’s her passion project about the magic world and how a ‘chosen one’ didn’t fulfill the prophecy of defeating evil, and is now living in shame. Comedy ensues with a star-studded cast.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay got crazy with a wild Godzilla movie that celebrated the 5oth anniversary of the king of the monsters. Godzilla Final Wars (2004) shows the Earth valiantly fighting monsters everywhere, when aliens arrive too. What we’re Enjoying

Shua couldn’t contain his excitement for both IF and Unfrosted. IF is a very touching story about childhood and imaginary friends with tons of celebrity performances and a new, breakout star. Unfrosted was a hilarious interpretation of how Pop Tarts were created. Get out your toaster and Enjoy! Jay powered through another 5K on Memorial Day. Keep yourself fit and healthy and get out there and do something!

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay laid down the base coat with Primer. It is an artistic movie about time-travel that will blow your mind. This one is a thinker, and it pairs well with a brilliant article about the whole thing on Sci-Fi Saturdays. Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Martians!

Martians have been a go-to character for a very long time. Even in early literature from the mid 17th century, we saw evidence of our alien neighbors. And when the movies came around, our brothers-from-another-mother-world made for some cool sci-fi stories. Jay and Shua have put together a list of Martians, and other aliens, with clues to their movie or TV show of choice. Join us as we try to guess which ones made the cut.

What we’re Enjoying

Jay sat down for a long, sandy movie marathon by watching Dune parts 1 and 2. Both create a truly gorgeous epic. Denis Villeneuve has created an amazing piece of art that tells Frank Herbert’s story in his own way. Shua was pleasantly surprised that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes told a story that paid a lot of tribute to all of the Apes movies that have come before it.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay is getting ready to rumble with Alien vs. Predator. Even after all this time, it proves to be a fun action packed monster vs monster story. But it wasn’t a totally original idea. Listen to us discuss the movie and then go read Jay’s article. Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

Two Indy movies celebrate landmark anniversaries this year. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom turns 40 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade turns 35. Come back in time with us and celebrate the movies that honor World War II. Dramas, comedies, and even sci-fi and horror, there is no end to the stories that can be told and lessons that can be learned from this historical, international conflict.

For more than 80 years Hollywood has been making movies to tell the dramatic stories of World War II. As impressionable youth, Jay and Shua ate them up and still do. Let’s look at some memorable ones.

What we’re Enjoying

Shua was pleasantly surprised to find that The Fall Guy is a well made, action extravaganza. Ryan Gosling continues his winning streak of fun movies and Emily Blunt shows yet another side of her talent. Shua recommends! Jay was on the edge of his Imperial-made seat while enjoying the series finale of The Bad Batch. Dave Filoni kept us guessing as to the fate of our heroes, and by the end Jay thought it was a satisfying conclusion.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay is pulling all the strings of the live action version of Thunderbirds (2004) with Bill Paxton. It may have not achieved the success and popularity of the bizarre 1960s marionette TV show, but it was a campy homage with some action and interesting interpretations.  Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Movies!

There have been countless tales of World War II over the years. These stories recount bravery, determination, and heroism in a way unlike any other period of human history. Growing up, Jay and Shua gravitated towards a few classics such as The Great Escape, The Big Red One, and The Dirty Dozen. Plus, believe it or not, there can sometimes be humor in tragedy. Comedies like Steven Spielberg’s 1941, Mel Brooks’s To Be or Not to Be, and The Zucker Brothers’ Top Secret. There are always lessons to be learned and tragedy is often a great reminder to not repeat mistakes. So let’s all remember that, shall we?

What we’re Enjoying

Jay is digging the retro vibes and modern day storytelling of the Disney+ series X-Men ‘97. Lots of great moments from Marvel’s mutant family with all the nostalgia of the original series. Shua recommends Mel Brooks’s autobiography “All About Me” which was released in 2021. If you listen to the audiobook, you can enjoy Brooks’s still hysterical delivery of the story of his life and career.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay revisits the 2004 Will Smith futuristic vision I, Robot. Based on a series of stories by Isaac Asimov, it tells the story of a murder committed by a robotic personal assistant in a future that seems a lot closer today than it did in ‘04. And it examines the ethical conundrums of the dangers of AI. Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Star Wars!

We start off season 4 of Enjoy Stuff with a look at the adult side of Star Wars. Don’t worry, the kids won’t need to leave the room. Now that the OG fans are AARP fans, how has the galaxy changed perspective? There are a ton of things that are aimed exclusively to adults from jewelry to gaming. Some of our childhood hobbies have expanded into complex (and often expensive) pastimes. We try to answer the question “who is Star Wars really for?” and think we have a pretty good conclusion: Everybody, of course!

What kinds of adult Star Wars things do you do? Do you still gravitate towards the kids stuff? What we’re Enjoying

Shua has been Enjoying the apocalypse. Well, kind of. He’s enjoying the world of Fallout. The new series on Prime Video is based on the successful video games from Bethesda. It’s a 1950’s style world and nuclear war has laid waste to the world. It’s up to an out of place vault dweller, a surface misfit, and a ghoul to save everyone. Jay sat down and experienced Zack Snyder’s Grain Harvesters: Part Two–The Reaping on Netflix. Well, I guess most people would know it by the title Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver. The continuation of Snyder’s universe had a lot to get excited about. Action, special effects, deeper character development, and of course slow motion grain harvesting. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay shuts off the lights and gets dark with The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) starring Vin Diesel. After a year of sci-fi that doesn’t feel very sci-fi, this was a nice return to outer space and futuristic action. Diesel was passionate about making it and it shows.  Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Music!

It’s the end of Season 3! Enjoy Stuff celebrates by playing our favorite game, “5 Songs”  Jay and Shua play each other 5 different songs that make them think of particular movies. What we’re Enjoying

Jay took a trip to the great outdoors to enjoy Bald Eagle State Park. It’s always nice to enjoy nature and get away from the world for a bit. Shua watched Steve! (Martin) A Documentary in 2 Pieces. It was a great look at the life of this eclectic and talented comedian. You can find that on Apple TV+.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays shares the dark predictions of 2004’s The Day After Tomorrow. While all the science in this movie may not check out exactly, it does present a strong message about our climate and the state of our country’s attitude about the condition of the world. Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy the Future!

Can we predict the future? Sure! Are we going to be right? Well…probably not. But we might get pretty close on a few things. That’s what the Usborne Book of the Future did back in 1979. It gave us a look at what they thought was going to be coming in the 21st century. You might be surprised to find out that they got a lot of things kind of right. From robots to cities to travel, we look at some of their more memorable predictions. Plus, Jay plays a game to see just what movies and TV shows predicted some things we have in our world today.

What we’re Enjoying

Shua decided to check out something that keeps popping up on the Disney+ banner called Renegade Nell. It’s a period piece taking place in the 1700’s and it features Nell Jackson, who tries to do good by using some mysterious super powers. Jay found a different kind of team-up/crossover movie which may be considered a B movie (or maybe C-) It’s called Monster Mash but it’s not about a dance or breakfast cereal. Just imagine if monsters teamed up to fight against Dr. Frankenstein. It’s another example of crazy fun.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay tries to remember an article that may have been erased from his memory. It was all about the 2004 movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It seems like a great idea to erase bad memories from your mind, but it may cause more problems than it’s worth. This movie really makes you think about your life and your decisions. Check it out today!  Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Birthdays!

This week we throw all the darts at the idea board to celebrate fun stuff for Jay’s birthday.

We start off with a little game of David v. Keith x Keith v. David. And yes, it’s pretty much how it sounds.

Next we discuss Jay’s complicated relation with the Smurfs. Yes, those tiny little blue things with the white hats that are always having to escape Gargamel even though they’re just trying to Smurf with their Smurfs so they can Smurf all the Smurfs on Smurf.

Do you know the difference between Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars? We’re not sure we do either, but we try to break it down by looking back at our own toys.

Next we play a few rounds of Geek Out to challenge our knowledge of a variety of geeky topics.

Finally we come up with a list of some music that don’t just make you tap your feet, they tell whole stories.

Let’s all wish Jovial Jay a happy birthday! Which of our topics made you think of something? What we’re Enjoying

Jay’s way IS the highway as he indulged in the rippling abs of Jake Gyllenhaal in Roadhouse. This is, of course, a remake of the 1989 Patrick Swayze classic. The modern day version has been updated, and is a bit more realistically violent, but also entertaining and action packed. Check out Roadhouse on Prime Video. Shua jumped hip-deep into the Kaiju footprint and experienced the latest Monsterverse movie where he discovered that Godzilla x Kong = Two Tons of Fun!

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay rediscovered another time travel movie with The Butterfly Effect. (2004) Ashton Kutcher plays Evan who has the ability to travel back to important times in his life and change things that happened. But he is surprised to learn how much even a little difference can change. Check it out on Retrozap.com. Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

Enjoy Eclipses!

April 8, 2024 will mark the date of a total eclipse of the sun in the United States. Eclipses are fairly rare, but nothing really fantastical or magical about them, just scientific. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use it as a cool motivator in movies. We look back at movies where an eclipse played an important role.

The moon will be covering the sun today, but after it’s over you’ll be able to enjoy other covers. Musicians often cover other artists' songs. And sometimes their version ends up being more popular than the original. We look at a few legendary ones.

But what could be more legendary than the best cover artist of them all; Weird Al Yankovic? Not all of Al’s songs are covers, but the parodies that are are excellent. Some are even better than the one they are parodying.

Are you in the path of totality? What are you covering today? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Never gonna give you up” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com

Shua felt shivers as he watched Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Not just because of the chilling villain, but because of all the nostalgic feelings along with a bunch of new stuff to enjoy from the latest film. Jay was really pleased to discover that the comic series Hell to Pay by Charles Soule and Will Sliney was a unique and entertaining story. Worth checking out for sure.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays explored a time travel movie again with the 2003 Ben Affleck movie Paycheck. Based on a short story by Philip K. Dick, John Woo directs a movie about the consequences of seeing into the future. Though Jay feels the story is a bit padded, it did bring up some interesting thoughts about decisions. What we’re Enjoying

Shua jumped on the bandwagon (or the sandworm) and saw Dune Part 2. It was every bit the epic spectacle everyone’s talking about. Action packed, entertaining, and visually stunning, he recommends it to anyone who loves seeing big-screen movies. Jay checked out another recent release, written by Diablo Cody and inspired by 80s movies. Lisa Frankenstein tells the story of a teen girl that raises a young, previously handsome corpse and romance ensues. It’s a fun one that feels new and old, which of course gets a TechnoRetro recommendation.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay rounded out the Matrix trilogy by remembering Matrix: Revolutions. The third in the series gave us the fate of Zion, Neo, Agent Smith, and the rest. While presenting a different feel than the first two movies, after a rewatch it presents a fun and entertaining story. Read Jay’s insightful analysis and then rewatch the movie. What we’re Enjoying

Jay finally got to the Disney+ documentary series Behind the Attraction. Season 2 has some cool inclusions such as Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Disney Parks food. It’s not a boring documentary, and you’re sure to laugh as you learn a little more about the parks. Shua got around to the 2023 Netflix anime “Blue Eye Samurai”. It’s an action packed, graphic, adult story with plenty of Ninja-type action.

Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay grudgingly analyzed the 2003 sequel that tried to keep a franchise alive but may have nudged it in the wrong direction. Terminator 3 didn’t quite have the some charm or quality of the first 2, but there are ways to Enjoy it, including skipping the movie and just reading Jay’s article instead. First person that emails me with the subject line, “Don’t worry, be happy” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to EnjoyStuff@RetroZap.com
