TechnoRetro Dads

Greetings, Programs!

You never know what you will hear on TechnoRetro Dads.  This episode was recorded (mostly) in the shazbazzar family room when JediShua and Mrs. Shua came down for a weekend visit.  You will hear dogs barking, panting, and running on the tile floor.  You will hear televisions and video games being played.  You will hear voices in the background.  Why is this episode scrambled with these echoes of present and past?  Because we were having a blast being together as a big, happy, TechnoRetro family!  You can hear that, too!

But the regular segments are packed in this podcast as well.  History Lessons (with a reminder that Valentine’s Day is this week), a TechnoRetro Challenge, Toys in the Attic (or shazbazzar spaceport, to be more precise), and even a bit (or byte) of News.

So plug in your ear buds and join in the fun as we fend off invaders from space, score touchdowns, blast asteroids, and use our best combat tactics with tanks and planes.  We are doing our part to make your Mondays better, so enjoy!

Be sure to give us some feedback.  Send us an electronic-M with your thoughts and voice messages to, or you can call us at (209)TR-TRDad.  We want to hear from you!

Greetings, Programs!

The excitement of yesterday has come and gone, and again, the present became the past and what was the news is now history.  The groundhog predicted the weather and Atreyu lost Artax in New Jersey.  Although there was much weeping and wailing during and after the Big Game Sunday night, it could not quench the excitement following a fantastic Saturday TechnoRetro Reunion (more about that later).

But the game goes on, ear buds!  We got right back up on that horse (excuse the pun) and lined-up our favorite pieces at “GO!” and took a look back at one of our favorite games, Monopoly.  The Flintstones/Pebbles TechnoRetro Challenge is almost over (so submit your thoughts) and a brand new Science Project is in the works as we start getting responses about the fruity flavors and bright colors of Froot Loops.  Chopper is in the News and and NASA is History in 77 minutes of therapy for Broncos fans.

Download early, listen in, and send us an electronic-M with your thoughts and voice messages to, or you can call us at (209)TR-TRDad.  We want to hear from you!

Greetings, Programs!

The last Monday in January has come and this episode promises to be more than meets the eye (or ear, ear bud, or taste buds, for that matter).

When THE SPECIALIST showed up for this cold call episode of TechnoRetro Dads, he had no reason to suspect the inquisition JediShua and shazbazzar had for him.  Whether the topic was Froot Loops or a game console that predated him by years, CHRIS LUBY of SMORE GEEKS is up to the challenge and sticks with JediShua and shazbazzar for the entire podcast!

With News pertinent to the 70s, 80s, and today as well as History Lessons that continue to impact the world we live in today, no other podcast provides the scope and escape to nostalgia this week as this episode of TechnoRetro Dads.  Download, listen, subscribe, and settle in with your ear buds for another great start to your work week on January 27, 2014.

Get on-the-line and send us an electronic-M with your thoughts and voice messages to, or you can call us at (209)TR-TRDad.  Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, too!

Add in some speculations about Star Wars: The Clone Wars upcoming episodes (not spoilers, just speculations on rumored titles), and there is enough in this episode to keep you busy for...

...well, at least 77 minutes.

Is JEK-14 more than a clone?  Does he remind anyone else of Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man?  With that arm, it just might be possible.

With Mike from Looking away to the Horizon and Chris from Star Wars Kidscast, JediShua and shazbazzar discuss the many finer points of LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles.  What isn’t to love about these LEGO Star Wars specials?

Included in this suspiciously transhuman episode of TechnoRetro Dads is news from CES, an announcement about VSI, and the release of the new documentary, I Know that Voice!  Sit in front of the TV for some Saturday morning cartoons with Tom, Jerry, Muscles, Spike, Snap, Crackle, and Pop.  Discover reading (and even singing) computers way back in the 70s.  Revisit Jaime Sommers and Steve Austin in their iconic, bionic roles.  Plus Hungry, Hungry Hippos, a Tonka Jeep, and Eric Bauza as Chris Rock!

It’s a totally awesome overloaded episode of TechnoRetro Dads to get your work week off to a great start!

Greetings, Programs!

The new year is well underway and we are launching Congressmen into space.  Well, we already did, it seems.  Tune in this week and you will be better prepared for that Jeopardy audition as well as a possible job of creative rearranging of words to force clever acronyms.  TechnoRetro Dads is more than just two guys waxing nostalgic week after week -- it is informative and thought provoking.  After all, before today, you did not know that C.H.A.M.P. stands for

But we do more than educate, we have fun this week, too.  From ice-skating in Mississippi to dismantling decorations in Denver, the topics flow from the King to the Fisher-Price Kingdom and every color crystal in between (even the Dark kind), JediShua and shazbazzar bring the 70s and 80s to today with an amusing mix of flashbacks and fast forwards that will keep your reel-to-reel working overtime.

So download early every Monday morning and listen to every juicy nugget of #TechnoRetro good times in a podcast where “B+” is just about the best thing that can be said about a person.  Get your work week started on the right foot (or the left, as long as it is the one you prefer) and be positive all week long!

Greetings, Programs!

What did you get for Christmas?  We loaded up (like we do every year) and had lots of fun.  But not just at Christmas time -- we have had a great year in 2013.  We take some time to revisit what happened in 2013 and reveal some of our expectations for 2014, and while everything has not been all shiny this year, we have high hopes for the year to come.

We also talk about the upcoming Annie Awards and the categories and nominees in our News segment.  In the History Lesson, we turn back the clock to the week after Christmas in the 70s and 80s to see what was going on while we were playing with the Star Wars toys Santa brought us back then.

The final results of the first season of the TechnoRetro Bowl are in and we celebrate the lopsided victory of an undefeated team.  Congratulations to Craig!

As the little one with the great big ears would say in that famous Rankin/Bass special.... “Happy New Year!”

Quick -- before Christmas actually gets here and it seems like it may be kind of weird to watch it -- check out A Charlie Brown Christmas.  JediShua and shazbazzar sat down with their families to watch the special that started it all as they wrap up a three-month trilogy of Peanuts specials just in time for Christmas.

We also climb up in our attics to pull out some dusty memories of toys of Christmases past as well as delve into some newsy items dig up data from the 70s and 80s about  computers and even a look at the future from the perspective of the past (1974, to be precise).

With just over a week before 2013 concludes, you can still plug in your ear buds to TechnoRetro Dads.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Shake off the Humbugs and get UNSCROOGED in this Christmas Music Spectacular!  Since music is such an intrinsic part of the holiday season and makes for great memories, we thought we’d share some of our favorites of years gone by as well as some new things we’ve added to our holiday playlist.

As a bonus feature of this episode, we called up Bob Brown for a chat about his song, “Santa, Bring Me a Dinosaur”, a fun little ditty from Down Under.

Plug this one into the car as your traveling or play it on the home stereo.  You’ll enjoy hearing these tunes over and over and over again.
