Enjoy Stuff: A TechnoRetro Podcast

Greetings, Programs!

With JediShua at the slot machines and shazbazzar in white water, things were moving rather rapidly this past week.  In fact, even this episode will pass by quickly (after all the excitement, the Dads needed a breather).  But TechnoRetro Dads will return next week for a full 77 minute episode.

In the meantime, check out the recent video buzz around the set of the next Star Wars movie and be sure to check out the newest Marvel feature, Guardians of the Galaxy.  (Maybe you will even want to research post modern abstract expressionism.  Or maybe not.)

Be sure to lend your voice to the show. Give us a call at (209) TR-TRDad to participate in the Lazy Book Club, Cereal Challenges, or Theme Park Summer.  Or record a voice message and send us an electronic-M at podcast@TechnoRetroDads.com

Greetings, Programs!

Time to RISE and shine, DAWN has already broken on this beautiful new day!  Get out from BENEATH the covers, sleepy head, today is your day of CONQUEST.  So ESCAPE your somber slumbers and BATTLE the temptation to grab more zzzzs.  TechnoRetro Dads are going bananas this Monday morning as we look back to the PLANET OF THE APES franchise from 1968 - 2014 with a new appreciation for the practical effects and sets from the classic series and eager anticipation for the return of CAESAR in another incarnation of this iconic tale.

PLUS: Animals in Theme Parks, South Korea is getting yet another great attraction (this time including APES), Marky Mark plays another crashed astronaut, shazbazzar talks CLONES at Alabama Phoenix Festival with the DEUCECAST, and a Weird ALbum enforces Mandatory Fun -- or so it says.

Join us for 77 minutes of MONKEYING AROUND and then give us a call at (209) TR-TRDad to participate in the Lazy Book Club, Cereal Challenges, or Theme Park Summer.  Or record a voice message and send us an electronic-M at podcast@TechnoRetroDads.com

Greetings, Programs!

Take a nostalgic trip to Saturday morning fun with Space Stars: Space Ghost, Teen Force, and the Herculoids.  Experience the nastalgic flavor of vitamin-rich, low-sugar King Vitaman cereal.  Then continue this Theme Park Summer as the Ninja is stopped by a tree, Diagon Alley opens at Universal Studios Florida in O’Lando, and the Verruckt is the most insane water slide ever!

PLUS: Scotch tape may be an exciting solution to bone injuries Harry Potter NEWS, Star Wars benefits from OT experience in Brian Muir, and The Great Kingdom Kickstarter campaign for this documentary about Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson continues until July 20th, so you still have time to lend your support to this film!

Kick back and sip on some sweet and tart (mostly sweet) Kool-Aid Lemonade at JediShua’s stand, then give a call at (209) TR-TRDad to participate in the Lazy Book Club, Cereal Challenges, or Theme Park Summer.  Or record a voice message and send us an electronic-M at podcast@TechnoRetroDads.com just like Sheldon did.

#TechnoRetro Show Notes:

Nostalgia - the fond memory of the past with longing sentiment

Notstalgia
- the transcription of various memories upon each other until a false nostalgia is formed

Nastalgia -
the unfortunate present reality that something remembered fondly is actually horrendous

Greetings, Programs!

Role-playing games range from MMORPGs to imaginative home-spun creations by creative college students, but they all stem from the classic Dungeons and Dragons.  JediShua and shazbazzar recall their first exposure to the realm of D&D in elementary school to  some fond memories with favorite characters.  SuperFriends Andrew Pascal, Chris Haifley, and James Sprattley come along to talk about their love of the game as well as introduce their upcoming film documenting the rise and fall of the D&D empire of Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson and the battle for control of TSR.  Their Kickstarter campaign for finishing funds continues until July 20th, so you can lend your support to this film!

PLUS: Check out some news (or rumors) about Carrie Fisher’s daughter, the Ralph McQuarrie Kickstarter, and the Ministry of Silly Walks before eating fried cuisine during the Theme Park Summer.
